Spell Check

And if the keyboard is set to "Canadian" then the Shift key doesn't work the same.

Sway With Me

This happens all the time at Church. Not everyone sways but you can often catch parents and grand parents swaying in time with someone holding a baby from across the aisle, and they don't even notice they are doing it.

Jacques & Kay: Recognition

Pronounced Yoo-Tin.
I too am often mistaken for one of my siblings, and get confused on who I am when looking at family photos :P

Oh Hey, Water!

It's tough being 3. Being not yet One is tough too, but not when there is an unguarded water bottle on the floor.

I'm a much more defensive driver. I do this with everyone. Comes from getting your license later in life. And being high-strung. Mostly being high-strung..... at least I don't yell.....

Jacques & Kay: It Was A Dark and Stormy Night

Dark and Stormy Nights are for creatures that don't run the risk of being struck by lightning because they nest up high.

I think my older nephews are getting pretty annoyed with how I constantly tell them how tall they've gotten.

Wake Up to Go to Bed

Olie figured out all our itinerary's so she could get the maximum sleep time.

Jacques & Kay: Cat Meets Rabbit

I imagine city cats aren't used to Jack Rabbits. They're instincts to hunt sometimes kicks in, but then shuts off once they realize that the animal they were stalking is actually the same size as they are....Usually.
Kay is thinking 'that rabbit is going to be the death of me...'

The mosquito's and horse-flies up at The Lake think that bug spray is just seasoning.

Jacques & Kay: Real Estate

I really enjoyed making Jacques & Kay Comics, so for the next little while I will be doing Jacques & Kay comics every Wednesday, and Once Upon A Donna Comics will be Mondays and Fridays. I hope you enjoy these two and their neighbours, and we'll see where this takes us.

Little Lois: The Icy Hand of Doom

My Aunt Pat stuck her hand out the window to make sure her hand was good and cold when she did this to my mom.
That does it for the Little Lois comics. I'm not sure I'll come back to these ones or not. But I hope you enjoyed them all the same!

Little Lois: Swing, Baby

As this was in the past, it is in sepia tone. I haven't quite got the hang of this style.
My mom did not enjoy her time in the hospital as a kid. The nurses were not very kind.
The next few comics will be Little Lois cartoons. Stories that my mom told me.

Jacque & Kay: Name Calling

Jacques doesn't speak French.
Thus concludes Jacques and Kay adventures. What did you guys think? I had a lot of fun drawing these two. I may revisit this another time.

Think Fast Rabbit...

There is a big ol' Rabbit that lives near my work. He doesn't seem to be too scared of people, but he's smart enough to stay away. Unfortunately he's not smart enough to realize when everyone can see him. And there are crows everywhere.
In a few days I'll be going on a summer break, and as such I'm going to take a bit of a break from Once Upon A Donna. I need a bit of a breather from the usual day to day life, so I'm going to take a break and "recharge". There will still be regular updates, but I will be posting a couple of different sort of comics, starting with the introduction of Jacques and Kay: The city Rabbit and Crow. Then another sort of comic called Little Lois, which will be stories my Mom has told me from when she was a kid. Hopefully you get some enjoyment out of them!

Having grown up with a lot of hand-me-downs and ups, combined with the artist side of myself, add in my body shape, makes me very particular about the clothes I buy.

A Boot

When I was in Grade 8 my Godmother took me and her family down to the States for a holiday. It was my first time out of Canada, and I did not know the Canadian stereotypes beyond "Eh", Hockey, and Beavers. But a lot of Americans I met introduced me to the rest! All in good fun of course, I didn't meet anyone who seriously asked me if I knew "Ted from Toronto".
Happy early Canada Day!

Strike Me Down and I Only Become Stronger

I may be used to my siblings bursting out in song, but it doesn't make it any less annoying when I'm doing something else. And they KNOW that.

Safety and Wildlife

Remember to pay attention to your surroundings! The sign was tucked in among the branches, but they were also next to a power line. Messing with a squirrel ain't worth getting hurt or killed.

Spooky Summer Nights

I don't like actual horror movies or books. Too scary, and my imagination is over active enough as it is, thanks. Erin doesn't like them at all.

Second Youngest Reflexes

Don't hit!
Being the second youngest means you are always playing both offence and defence.
(and being Canadian means neither "offense" or "offence" looks right to you...)

Farm School

The U of S is one of the biggest Universities in Canada....because we cheated and put farm land in the middle of it. mwahahahaha

Monkey See...

His sister does this too.
People always go "oh!" when they see how I hold a pencil. I'm not entirely sure of the right way to hold a pencil, but I assume it must allow for some sort of stress relief for the wrist.

If wishes were fishes...

It didn't work when the first nephew tried, it's not gonna work with the rest.

Remember to put on sunscreen as the weather gets warmer out! Remember to use at least SPF30, and drink lots of water and to shelter in the shade occasionally to prevent heat stroke. And Noxzema is good for preventing sunburned skin from pealing.

Pass It On

I don't remember who has the shirt now.

If you're wondering why this comic looks a bit different, it's because I drew it directly on my computer, rather than penciling and inking on paper first like I usually do. So I'm still trying to figure out which pen size in the program is the closest to my real pen.
I threw my back out this past week so bad I had to go see a chiropractor. So while it still hurts, it's hard to draw the way I used to in my sketchbooks, but I can still work with my tablet well enough. Hopefully I'll have this figured out soonish. In the meantime, please bear with me.

The Cross reminds us of many things, really...

For you non-church-goers, this happens during the Good Friday Liturgy. We don't break out a giant wooden Cross every Mass...
